Assistive Technology Support Services Coordinator


Essa Kennedy is an AT & UDL Services Coordinator on the Technology & Learning Connections (TLC) Team. The TLC Team is part of the Problem Solving/Response to Interventions (PS/RtI) Program through Florida’s Multi-tiered System of Supports (MTSS) Project at the University of South Florida. In this role, Essa provides assistance in the areas of Assistive Technology (AT), Universal Design for Learning (UDL), Accessible Instruction Materials (AIM), and Instructional Technologies (IT).

Essa received her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Southern Connecticut State University, earning a MS in Early Childhood Special Education. She attended Nova Southeastern University where she earned her MS in Speech and Language Pathology. She holds a teaching certificate in Early Childhood Special Education and Speech Language Impaired. Essa is a licensed speech language pathologist (SLP) and is a certified member of the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA). She has spent her career specializing in assistive technology including AIM, UDL and AAC with students with disabilities. Prior to joining the project, Essa worked with the Florida Diagnostic Learning Resource System (FDLRS) as a technology specialist. Essa has experience in creating and providing professional learning and coaching to school staff and families. She is passionate about creating learning experiences that integrate technology to ensure all students succeed.
